Pantry Beauty: Sugar lip scrub
There are many things I love about Winter, including snuggling up against the cold in my big coats, trying out all the delicious new Costa drinks and visiting the Christmas markets. However, the frigid weather can be very harsh on my skin. The wind and cold air can result in unhappy skin that needs some serious attention. Lips, unlike other parts of the skin, don’t contain oil glands, therefore they’re more susceptible to drying out and becoming chapped. This simple lip scrub is the perfect solution to buff away the dead skin and add some much needed moisture back into your lips.
You will need:
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
- Airtight storage container
- Tongue cleaner (optional)
Some benefits of:
Sugar: Exfoliates skin & encourages cell turnover
Olive oil: Moisturizes skin & improves its health
Coconut oil: Moisturizes & cleanses skin
Lemon: Brightens skin & treats discoloration
The steps are super simple. Mix all the ingredients together until all the sugar has been fully saturated with the oils.
Rub the scrub onto your lips vigorously enough to loosen the dead skin, but not too harshly. You can use your finger for this step, however I prefer to use a tongue cleaner, which may sound a little odd but it does a great job!
After rubbing, let the mixture sit on your lips for a minute, and then wipe off with a damp washcloth. The result will be soft and healthy lips! Store the remainder of the scrub in an airtight container for future use.
Tip: Don’t overuse this product. Only use when your lips are chapped or peeling.
